The patents below protect a variety of data collection devices (bar code readers, RFID readers, dictation devices, digital cameras) that collect information and then automatically augment this information with date/time stamps, the identity of the person collecting the information, and the correct database storage address. The augmented information can then be delivered to specific data storage locations in a computer network (enterprise databases, Internet locations) – without any further intervention by the user. In some of the applications described in these patents, the augmented information can be presented on a computer terminal for modification and approval prior to being transferred for database storage. This system enables data collector companies to further distinguish their products by adding new functionality that increase product usefulness and improve worker productivity.
