Background

Telaric was formed in 1996 as an innovation firm focused on originating new technologies and protecting them with a strong intellectual property portfolio.

Since then, Telaric has developed more than 30 issued and pending patents in such fields as electronic identification devices, medication management systems, medical accident avoidance, voice mail, database design, search engine functionality, and computer and facility security. Many of these technologies date back to 1995. With this body of intellectual property, the company has founded two technology companies and has been involved with several licensing initiatives and a successful patent infringement lawsuit against a Fortune 100 company.

Carlos de la Huerga, founder of Telaric, began developing Telaric’s intellectual property portfolio in 1995. Mr. de la Huerga has over 25 years of senior management and engineering experience in the medical electronics industry. Prior to founding Telaric, he was with Marquette Medical Systems, a $500 million manufacturer of clinical information systems, electrocardiology instruments and monitoring systems. During his 23 years with Marquette, he served as president for the company’s $85 million Cardiology Products division and, earlier in his career, as vice president of engineering for the company’s complete product line.

Since 1998, an expert team at Telaric has been focused on further developing Telaric’s IP portfolio, creating prototypes and products based on the protected technology, licensing its IP, and forming joint venture partnerships based on its IP.

Today we consist of a group of individuals who have made a career out of innovation - originating technologies, developing hundreds of new products and services, and leading research and development development teams in multiple industries. All of us have spent part of our careers as senior executives in large public companies and smaller privately-held companies.

Telaric’s Intellectual Property Strategy

Telaric develops new technologies in a variety of areas and applies for patent protection for these developments using a strategic patenting approach to create and protect broad areas of intellectual property.

Beyond our licensing/partnership efforts, as innovators we’re involved in many other activities.

First, we devote about half our time to assisting companies increase their innovation level, strengthen their intellectual property protection and lower their innovation costs. However, we've found that some customers want to outsource the tasks performed by these tools and others have asked us to develop customized tools that meet a specific customer need.
